In the shop
Now that I've completely bored everyone with my excessive posting (again) I've decided to start dedicating some of these to the rigs I currently have in my shop from time to time. Right now I have the following:
2008 BMC SLC01 - Full carbon frame running SRAM Red drivetrain (Ultegra 11-23 cassette). Compact crank. Wheels are HED Jet 50 rims. I'm not familiar with them, but they appear to be an aluminum clincher with a carbon fairing over them. Interesting. Also the rear is built up over a Powertap Wireless hub.
Based on the shop time and some time spent riding it around (along with other experiences) I have mixed feelings about Red. I do not like Doubletap. I do not like the hoods/levers. I do like some of the feel. I LOVE the rear derail.
The brake calipers are much better than I thought they would be as well. As shown the rig weighs in at 17.5 #'s. My guess is that in a racing configuration for me it would come in around 16 and some change or about 1 pound lighter than my current rig.

Um…
I need to stick to running.
Carbon, SRAM, Jet, Ultegra 11-23 cassette. Huh?
Give me words like lactate threshold, tempo run, pronation, and of course my favorite
fartlek.
I’m
not
worthy.

Is this written in like Russian or something? I don’t understand a word of it.

You guys are awesome. This is indeed my other language. I speak ‘cog’.
Let me -resummerize it…I worked on an uber-expensive road rig with top line components and cleaned, tensioned and lubed it and got it running like a precision watch in 3/4 of an hour.
….I’m batman.

That weight seems high. My non-zoot Ultegra rig with ksyrium equipes comes in at about that weight.
In other observations, I clearly need to find a bike weenie friend willing to do my work for beer and cookies. Then again, I’m learning to do my own work so I can afford more beer and cookies… hmmm.

I do it because:
1. I love it.
2. It makes me happy.
3. It puts my mind in a permanant state of bliss. Comfortably Numb.
4. I get to lay hands on some wicked stuff I could not exactly afford.
5. I get the satisfaction of a job well done.
6. I get to embrace my inner/outer geek.
7. I get to see the look on the owner’s face when they take a pedal stroke and go “WOW!”
8. I do it because it can be a challenge.
9. I do it because I can.
10. Sometimes I do it because I would like a nice Belgian Wheat Ale 6-pack placed into my fridge…
….this should have been a blog post….

Dude. Who fartleked?
Open a window or something. That stuff is completely rank.
This post reminds me that you haven’t seen the low end CyLowe rig in quite a while. I think I need to have you tension my spokes and use a torque wrench on my crankset.
Uhhh…..
